GA Department of Transportation This project was the first of it’s kind in Georgia, and at the time of completion, the ninth in the nation. World Fiber was the prime contractor for the High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lane project, converting 18 miles of an HOV lane to HOT lanes on I-85/SR 403. We met challenges with successful resolutions and achieved aggressive deadlines, working nights and weekends to deliver the project on-time and on-budget. The project included the following components:

  • An underground conduit and pull box network for fiber optic communications and power service
  • fiber optic networking equipment in device cabinets and existing Hub buildings
  • over 140,000 feet of fiber optic cable
  • 8 miles of directional boring
  • 10 miles of conduit proofing
  • 97 overhead signs
  • 51 overhead sign structures
  • 35 horizontal extension arms
  • 10 rate signs
  • 9 5.8 GHz wireless radio systems
  • fiber splicing and testing

GA Department of Transportation/Serco World Fiber is currently working under year two of this five year contract for performance based maintenance of the Georgia DOT NaviGAtor Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). We are responsible for providing inventory control, device documentation management, asset management, equipment repair and replacement, and configuration management for the NaviGAtor system devices. This contract requires a comprehensive maintenance procedure, including detailed checklists, daily reporting, preventative maintenance measures, communications and power trouble shooting and MOT.Phase 1 — Replacement of:
